While teaching Project Management in my recent certificate course, I had a tough time to make my students from NGO sector understand the difference between 'Monitoring and Control' from PMBOK® (4th Edition) point of view and 'Monitoring and Evaluation' as perceived and practiced in NGO sector. Though I had the conceptual understanding of the difference, yet I wanted to have in depth understanding of the terminology being used in the NGO Sector.
A couple of days back, I came across a toolkit titled 'Monitoring and Evaluation' by Civicus; a comprehensive representation of the concept of 'Monitoring and Evaluation'. The toolkit referenced a number of associated toolkits. I found all of them very useful and am of the view that my students from NGO sector would benefit a lot from going through them.
